Keep your head in the clouds and your feet on the ground

In order to get to where you believe your purpose lies, you are required to look up while travelling on a path less trodden.

See looking down enables you to see where you are going, but when you are staring at your feet you are missing out on everything that is happening around you. Looking down means you are unaware of the opportunities, lessons, moments that are put along side you on your journey.

I think about certain days where I have been wearing my headphones, listening to a podcast or music and it felt like the stimuli I needed in that moment but there has been times where I’ve decided to take them off and ever so often, if I’m around people, a conversation will start not long after. I travel on public transport regularly and have found that without headphones the world presents me with little bits of kindness throughout the day, a short conversation with a stranger, a question and answer of someone who doesn’t know where to go, a shared hobby being spoken about which leads to a discussion. These little moments, unique interactions that would have passed me by if I was just simply looking down.

There is something to be said for looking up in a world which is looking down at a screen.

Hey, I do it to but I think awareness is important.

Awareness that if we are looking down, staring at a device which in recent years has a main objective of showing us what everyone else is doing in life then we must be missing out on something surely. Because seeing other people’s lives online doesn’t bring us closer to our own, and a lot of the time it isn’t really their life we are looking at, we all manufacture our best bits and showcase all of the good days and leave the not so good days hidden.

I really do think technology is amazing for how fast it enables us to learn, how easy is it to stay in touch with others, we get to share our creations with the world but there is just something inside me which feels like it’s unnatural. Choose to create rather than consume, and when consuming, consume mindfully and implement microlearning to benefit from social media.

We weren’t made for constant consumption of information. Our brains physically cannot compute that amount of words or visuals at one time. Our lives are for living and living requires being in the present, being in the now creates curiosity, curiosity creates learning and learning creates growth.

I heard a quote which stated “the person who says they can and the person who says they can’t are both usually right”

I want to always be the person that says “I can” no matter what life throws at me, no matter how many times I fail, no matter how many times I find myself looking down and had to readjust myself to look back up.

Because life is for the living and when you begin to understand that there is 10x the amount of chances of you winning the lottery than you being here today it might increase your want to live as much as you possibly can that little bit more.

I think we get confused by what the right way to live is, but here’s the thing. There is no right way, there is a way and the way that you choose is entirely down to you. When you decide to stop looking down and start looking up is down to you.

I choose to keep my head in the clouds because I know that the fire in me wasn’t put there by accident, the want and knowing that there is more and there can be more isn’t just delusion. You are only delusional until its reality, because as soon as it is reality it is seen as greatness. I’m okay with the doubt from others, the lack of belief. If you don’t already believe you will get to where you’re wanting, then you’re already fighting a losing battle, The world belongs to optimists, if you’re willing to do anything big you have to believe it can happen before it happens.

Keep your head in those clouds no matter where you are because along as you keep looking up, nothing can stop you on the ground.

Sending Love,

K.
