Sit With It.

You’re not feeling quite yourself, so you decide to fill in the gaps, replacing boredom with screen time, silence with music, loneliness with temporary people, feelings with substances, filling every possible space for understanding and thoughts with avoidance.

The world has made it so easy to distract ourselves it seems silly not too, but after all of this, when you can no longer avoid everything which seems difficult, what is left?

A lot of the time we are left with what seems to be an emptiness, an outline of who we could have been if we had just felt but when choosing the easy route we are not informed at the time with a page of terms and conditions that it is really the most difficult path we may endure.

Feeling your emotions when you actually feel them will never be an enjoyable or rewarding feeling at that moment in time. It feels pretty horrible and almost as if we are a victim to circumstance and what a horrible feeling that is…feeling sorry for ourselves.

Being a person who has a rather big desire to be ‘the joy’ out of a spread of people it’s hard to accept that to be the joy equals feeling every other emotion deeply along side it. Joy doesn’t exist without fear, without sadness or without anxiety. Along with the many other emotions of course. Because without a low mood there is no high mood, the same way that without the rain there is no rainbow.

Unfortunately and fortunately, life has seasons like the weather. When winters darkness slowly becomes spring we don’t question why or how its happening, we accept it for what it is and we indulge in the brighter days and temperatures warming, the same way when summer comes we allow it to flourish as it always does and we appreciate it for all of the beauty it brings with it. We don’t question or analyse the seasons of the weather yet we question and analyse the seasons of our life.

Not all seasons within your life will be as colourful as summer, and not all as dark as winter nights. However they are all in-fact very necessary, necessary to teachings that we are required to experience, hardships we need and are very capable of enduring, joyous moments that we will cherish and hold closed to our hearts and the lessons which in their own way, change us ever so slightly and make us who we need to be.

So yes it may feel uncomfortable, you may want to distract yourself and look away from what’s in front of you but honestly…

Sit with it, sit with it and feel it, feel everything.

Because what is a life that is not felt deeply, what are seasons which do not change and who are you without these teachings life has to offer to you.

Sit with it.

Sending Love,

K.
